SHELL & TUBE : Water Cooled Oil Coolers are widely used in industry where water in reasonably good quality is available at low cost |

FIN TUBE : Air Cooled Oil coolers are used where water availability is scarce and expensive. Although this type of coolers requires a higher initial investment than its water-cooled counterpart, maintenance and operating costs are usually low. |

| Forced Oil and Water Flow |
| OMEEL Coils favoured forced oil-water operated cooler is type OFW. All designs feature Leak Detector Type of Double Concentric tubes connected between pairs of double tube sheets. Basic design is the Non-Removable Bundle style of Fixed Tube sheet exchanger in what is termed Non-Code construction (This heat exchanger is a forced oil-to-water shell & tube design that can be mounted in either vertical or horizontal positions. It too is available in both conventional and leak detector versions, both with leak-free double tube sheet construction. |

- Minimum 3/8” dia tubes are used to avoid frequent choking External Floating Head Construction with Removable Tube Bundle
- Double concentric tubes with longitudinal grooves at tube interfaces which stop higher pressure water entering the oil through a split or holed tube. Any leakage is to the space between tube sheets. Design prevents oil entering water in the same way thus preventing environmental damage
- Robust design with stiffer double concentric tubes more readily withstands "flow induced vibration"
- Compact design made possible by an Integral Finned copper outer tube on oil side
- Ease of access to the waterside without disturbing the water connections permits inspection and maintenance for fouling and corrosion

| The air cooled oil coolers are designed to dissipate heat from the oil of generator Transformer, Distribution Transformer, Smoothing Reactors and Locomotive Transformers. Specially designed internal turbulators are provided for effective heat transfer from the viscous oil. |
